ABOUT
HistoryThe Canberra Pickleball League had its beginnings in 2023 when the Canberra's competition scene was scarce. Ben and Thach ran four sessions at venues around Canberra including the QUeanbeyan PCYC and Lynham Tennis Club. The Canberra Pickleball League is now returning to a thriving Pickleball community. The League will provide Canberra with a regular, competitive team based event.
TeamsEach team will consist of four players. Each Tie will consist of 2 doubles matches. Each team will play 2 ties per night for total of 4 doubles matches.
We will also play the MLP teams singles match called a 'Dreambreaker'. This is played with 2 players from each team and will be full singles (Divisions 1 and 2) or skinny singles (Divisions 3 and 4). Please see more info in our FAQ page. |
Rally ScoringThe doubles matches will use MLP rally scoring. This method of scoring allows the matches to be played over a more consistent time frame and is simpler than side out scoring. It also provides closer matches due to returners scoring for points won.
Four DivisionsDivision 1: All players Doubles DUPRs must total less than 18 (Wednesday 7.30pm - Queanbeyan)

For example:
A team consists of four players with the following DUPR Doubles ratings: Tim is 3.2, Brad is 3.3, John is 3.8, George is 3.6. The teams total DUPR = 13.9 This team would play in the DUPR 14 (Division 3) as their total DUPR ratings for their 4 players is less than 14. We reserve the right to move players between divisions to protect the fairness of each division and the viability of the league. Entry FeeThe Entry fee is $220 and is payable after teams have been selected.
