History

The Canberra Pickleball League had its beginnings in 2023 when the Canberra's competition scene was scarce. Ben and Thach ran four sessions at venues around Canberra including the Queanbeyan PCYC and Lyneham Tennis Club. The Canberra Pickleball League is now returning to a thriving Pickleball community. The League will provide Canberra with a regular, competitive team based event.

Teams​

Teams of 4 with a combined doubles DUPR between 14 and 15.

Players to have DUPR ratings between 3 and 4.

Match Format: Round 1 Doubles (3 sets): Players 1&2, Players 3&4 Round 2 Doubles (1 set): Players 1&3, Players 2&4 Round 3 Doubles (1 set): Players 1&4, Players 2&3

Dreambreaker Singles: Minimum of 2 players competing from each team playing 6 points. All sets are first to 21 with a minimum margin of 2 and subject to a freeze.

No requirement to have a minimum number of females.

Maximum of 10 teams

​Match results to be entered into the Global Pickleball Network.

Results will not be entered into DUPR

Rally Scoring 

The doubles matches will use MLP rally scoring.  This method of scoring allows the matches to be played over a more consistent time frame and is simpler than side out scoring. ​It also provides closer matches due to returners scoring for points won. 

DUPR team requirements

All players Doubles DUPRs must total less than 15 but more than 14. 

For example:

A team consists of four players with the following DUPR Doubles ratings: Tim is 3.4, Brad is 3.3, John is 3.8, George is 3.6. The teams total DUPR = 14.1

 

Entry Fee

The Entry fee is $220 and is payable on entry.

Season dates

• September 4th - November 20th.

Prizes

• Winners names will be engraved on the perpetual CPL Trophy
