FAQ
What if I don’t have a DUPR?
You will need to register for a DUPR to enter the CPL and link it to your Global Pickleball Network account. When you register your account, DUPR will give you a default rating. This rating changes as your games are entered into the system. This rating will provide you with an indication of your ability and will allow you to enter in the correct bracket for future tournaments and leagues.
For players with no playing history, as well as registering for a DUPR, please self rate using our ratings page and send this to [email protected]. This will inform you of the division to enter into.
Will all the results go into DUPR?
Yes, (excluding singles Dreambreaker sets, See below). We have selected the Global Pickleball Network because it has this feature.
I would like to play but I can’t play for the full season
You can still enter a team however your captain will need to find someone to replace you for the matches you are unavailable.
What is a dreambreaker?
In Major League Pickleball, a Dreambreaker is a unique tiebreaker format used when teams are tied 2-2 after the four regular matches. In the Canberra Pickleball League a Dreambreaker will always be played as part of the Tie and is played in a singles format.
- In a DreamBreaker, teams select 2 players.
- Players alternate singles points—player vs. player—in a rotating fashion until a team reaches 21. (win by 2)
- It’s fast-paced and strategic because teams have to decide the order and matchups.
Do I have to play Singles?
No. However, your team will need to have 2 players competing in the Dreambreaker singles set. This will be full court singles in Divisions 1 and 2 and half court singles (Skinny singles) in Divisions 3 and 4. This will not count towards your DUPR rating.
Do I have to pay for the Global Pickleball Network?
No. GPN has a premium membership option that allows user additional features such as access to additional statistics and less ads. These are additional features and are not required for the CPL.
Can I nominate for 2 Divisions?
As Division 1 is being played on a different day, players can register to play in Division 1 and Division 2. As Divisions 2, 3 and 4 are played on the same week night, please only nominate for one of these divisions.
